Questions & Answers

What are the Billrothhaus opening hours?

Mondays to Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (events can also be held outside these opening times).

How do visitors get to the Billrothhaus by public transport, and is there any parking available nearby?

The Billrothhaus (Frankgasse 8, 1090 Vienna) is located in the centre of Vienna, close to the University of Vienna’s old AKH [General Hospital] campus and the Austrian National Bank. There are good public transport connections, and the Billrothhaus is within easy reach from the following stations: Schottentor (lines U2, 1, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 71, D), Landesgerichtsstrasse (lines 43, 44), Schwarzspanierstrasse (lines 37, 38, 40, 41, 42) and Lange Gasse (lines 5, 33).

If arriving by car, there are short-stay parking zones near the Billrothhaus (Mon-Fri 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; max. stay 2 hours). There is also underground parking in nearby Otto Wagnerplatz (more detailed information available at www.bestinparking.at) and at Votivpark (www.wipark.at, website in German).

Update: Starting in 2026, the Billrothhaus will have direct metro access with the U5 line which is currently being constructed. The first new U5 station is named Frankhplatz and will be located in close proximity to the Billrothhaus. Further information can be found here.

Due to the construction work expanding the metro network, there are road diversions near the Billrothhaus. Those arriving by car or bicycle can find information about resulting traffic changes here (website available in German only). We recommend using public transportation whenever possible. The extensive construction site and diversions also impact the parking situation (no short-term parking zone directly in front of the Billrothhaus).
